Carbon County Higher Education's Construction Technology program is a hands-on and competency-based, incorporating the National Center for Construction Education and Research's (NCCER) Core curriculum covering: Basic Safety, Construction Math, Introduction to Hand Tools, Introduction to Power Tools, Introduction to Blueprints, Basic Communication Skills, and Basic Employability Skills. The NCCER curriculum is basic training for all craft apprenticeships utilizing the NCCER curriculum, including: Heavy Equipment Operation, Carpentry, Welding, Electricians, etc.
This course includes hands-on training in basic construction and carpentry including framing principles, concrete placement and finishing, site work and outside work projects. Students who complete the course and 200 hours of verifiable construction work experience will be awarded a certificate by CCHEC: "Certified Construction Worker"
