Integrated Systems Technology (IST)

The IST® Learning Units contain the depth students need for entry level work in modern industry with 50 hours of curriculum per unit and multiple units per topic. Each unit uses a layered design consisting of up to 12 layers called Learning Activity Packets (LAPs). Students progress through the layers as far as their interests and abilities take them. Each LAP is designed as a natural completion point in itself; students can stop at any point. The layers start with basic concepts and progress to more complex activities.

CCHEC's IST lab includes the following topics: Nuts and Bolts (Program Overview); Design Processes; Design of Structures; Electrical Systems; Enterprise Systems; Fluid Power Systems; Manufacturing Processes; Quality Assurance; Robotics and Computer Programming; Surveying and Mapping; and Thermal Systems.

The unique, hands-on teaching approach improves students' academic skills and teaches other important career skills such as problem-solving and team work.
