Get High School and FREE College credit at the same time!

What is Dual Enrollment?

Dual enrollment means you get credit in two schools for taking one college level class (high school and college).
While enrolled in high school, you could be taking college classes during your junior and senior high school years.
The college class counts toward high school graduation and towards college graduation.

We encourage students to consider getting a head start on their college program by enrolling in classes through Western Wyoming Community College Rawlins Outreach at Carbon County Higher Education Center.

How does this benefit me?

Counts as one elective credit towards high school graduation.
Receive the credit hours of each class on your college transcript.
CCHEC pays the tuition and fees up front (students are responsible for buying the textbook(s) needed.)
You will be “ahead of the game” when you start college and may be able to register before other students because of the credit classes you took in high school.
Prepares you for taking college classes after high school.

Things to consider and eligibility requirements

Am I at least 16 years of age?
Am I an independent learner?
Do I have time for a college course?
Do I have current ACT scores or will I need to take the WWCC COMPASS assessment?
Do I understand that the grade I earn in this class will go on my permanent college transcript?
Do I know where I want to attend college after high school?
Do I have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average?
Do I understand that I am responsible for researching transfer issues prior to enrolling in college classes? Colleges have varying policies on the acceptance of college credit earned while a student is still in high school.

How do I begin?

Contact your high school counselor.
Take a college class during the regular school day or in the evening, online or in the classroom.
