Carbon County Higher Education Center’s Adult Basic Education (ABE)/General Educational Development (GED) program helps adult students obtain their high school equivalency through the GED Testing Service. Our program also assists adults who wish to improve their academic and job skills by way of intense one-on-one tutoring, classroom instruction and self driven computer work. The Adult Learning/Testing Center is proud to be the first center in the state of Wyoming to offer computer-based testing for the GED.
The process of obtaining a GED includes:
• Registration and pre-test - $20
This test predicts your ability to successfully pass the GED Test and is required for admission to the GED program (Please note: Two forms of identification are required…one must be a picture ID).
• Post-test - $20
Delivered after tutoring to determine progress.
• Official Practice Test- $20
Formatted and delivered the same way as the actual GED to measure final preparedness.
• If any candidate scores ready-to-test on the pretest they may by-pass Post and Official Practice tests provided they are not below the age of 18.
GED testing fee is $120 which is a cost of $24 in each of five areas. CCHEC offers scholarships that offset 63% of GED Test costs. Tests include Language Arts (writing), Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and Language Arts (reading).
Individuals wishing to obtain their GED should contact the Adult Learning Center at 307-328-9204 to schedule a pretest. GED recipients are eligible for admission to most colleges and are also eligible for scholarships and financial aid.
Candidates who have begun their GED are encouraged to complete their GED during 2013. As of January 1, 2014, candidates will lose any work done previously.
